Bob de Wit is professor of strategy of the Strategy Academy, a research and education organization bringing together academics and business professionals with an interest in strategy issues. He is also director of Strategy Works, a strategy consulting firm based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This firm facilitates the process of strategic reorientation and change within internationally operating companies.
Bob holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Utrecht University, and an MBA and PhD degree in Management Science from the Erasmus University Rotterdam. He was a professor in strategic management at the Rotterdam School of Management from 1986 to 1996. Currently he is Professor of Strategic Management and Associate Dean for Research at the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. He is also member of the Academic Council of the Ecole Nationale de Pont et Chaussees in Paris and member of the Review Board of the Strategic Management Society.
Bob de Wit has (co-) authored 9 books, over 30 articles and chapters in books, and 15 cases and teaching notes in the area of strategic management. In 1994 he co-authored a strategic management textbook, together with Ron Meyer, entitled Strategy — Process, Content, Context: An International Perspective, which has since sold over 80.000 copies. In 1998 the second edition was published and has been adopted by more than 200 business schools worldwide. In 1999 a new book, intended for managers and consultants, was published entitled Strategy Synthesis: Resolving Strategy Paradoxes to Create Competitive Advantage. His most recent book, Strategisch Management van Publieke Organisaties: De Overheid in Paradoxen (Strategic Management of Public Organizations, in Dutch), together with Ron Meyer and Kees Breed, was published in June 2000.
