Estelle M. Phillips

Dr. Estelle Phillips has lived in the London Borough of Barnet since she was 11 years old and in Finchley, Church End for 21 years until 2001. Her three sons, together with their wives and her eight grandchildren, still live in Barnet too.

Dr Phillips is an occupational psychologist specializing in issues of gender in the workplace. She has served on many committees of the British Psychological Society and her co-authored book How to Get a PhD has been translated into eight languages.

Dr Phillips has enjoyed a long career as an academic and independent educational consultant. She has published widely on the various aspects of the PhD process and has spoken at universities on four continents about the skills required to complete and supervise a PhD. Her involvement extends to helping with the transformation of the Australian PhD and the introduction of a European doctorate.
