Gloria J. Miller has more than 20 years” experience providing management consulting, program and project management, and Information Technology (IT) consulting to Fortune 500 and government organizations. She is the founder of and Managing Consultant at MaxMetrics, an International Management and Information Technology Consulting firm.
Previously, Gloria has held senior management and leadership positions in such organizations as SAS Institute, Oracle, CDSI, Ultra Tech, and MCI Telecommunications. During her time at SAS, Gloria was responsible for starting and building SAS Institute's International professional services operations to provide implementation services for business intelligence, analytics and data warehousing, In addition, as the Executive Director for SAS Research and Development India, she led the development and product launch of the SAS Industry Intelligence Solutions, a family of solutions for various industries, including banking, telecommunications, retail, manufacturing and insurance.
Gloria has co-authored several methodologies and books on implementing software and modernizing organizations to use information more effectively, including Business Intelligence Competency Centers: A Team Approach to Maximizing Competitive Advantage and the Information Revolution.
Throughout her career she has worked in or had oversight of hundreds of projects. She gained her experience as a hands-on manager or consultant. Gloria has also been in her share of not-so successful projects including a failed agile project, a product launch with lack luster sales, a solution implementation with poor performance, and a project or two that ran over budget or delivered later than planned.
Based on her collection of experiences, Gloria is a big believer in agility. Agility is about people, quick feedback, and transparency. If you bring bright people together, give them a clear goal and good support, they can achieve anything. For a profitable business, you have to maintain flexibility and adaptability; establishing processes that offer quick feedback is critical to this flexibility. Transparency is a great managemen! tool. The more you know and see the quicker you can respond should things go in the wrong direction.
Gloria has a masters degree in business administration and undergraduate degrees in computer science, and electronic technology. She is a Certified ScrumMaster, and a Project Management Institute Certified Practitioner and Project Management Professional.
