Ian Worthington BA(Hons), PhD

Ian is Principal Lecturer in the Department of Strategy and Management at Leicester Business School, De Montfort University, Leicester where he specialises in Greening Business and the External Context of Management. He teaches on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Faculty of Business and Law and has numerous administrative roles associated with course management, module leadership and undergraduate admissions.

In addition to his teaching and administrative duties, Ian is very heavily involved in research and publication and in consultancy. With Chris Britton he is co-author of the best selling business studies book ‘The Business Environment’ and now in its 4th edition. A recent survey by the Sunday Times (October 2002) placed the book in the top ten best selling books on business in the UK and it is the number 1 best seller on the subject in Europe. He has also co-authored a number of other books in the fields of economics and marketing, again with colleagues from the Leicester Business School.

Ian’s major research interest is environmental issues and he has published in a variety of journals including Local Government Studies, Local Governance, Sustainable Development and Environment and Planning 'C'. He is currently engaged in a number of research projects on the environmental performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) under the aegis of the Small Business and Enterprise research Group.

On the consultancy side he has been involved in a range of projects at local, regional, national and inter-governmental level, including work for the European Observatory on SMEs in Europe.
