Joe Peppard

Professor Peppard holds the Chair in Information Systems and is also Director of the Information Systems Research Centre, the IT Leadership Forum and has recently launched the innovative Cranfield IT Leadership Programme.

Over the years he has held academic appointments at Loughborough University, Trinity College Dublin, Groningen University, and the University of South Australia.

The focus of Professor Peppard’s research and teaching is in the area of information systems and technology strategy and management. He has published widely in academic and general business and management journals. His most recent books include Strategic Planning for Information Systems (Wiley, 2002) and Customer Relationship Management: Perspectives from the Marketplace (2003). His book The Essence of Business Process Re-engineering originally published in the mid-1990s, has recently been translated into Chinese, having already appeared in Spanish and Polish editions. He is currently working on a book Creating a Value-Adding IS Capability: Delivering High Performance, Liberating Business Value. He is European Editor of the Journal of Information Technology and an Editorial Board Member of European Management Journal.

Professor Peppard’s consulting is focused on advising organisations on IT and strategy related matters and how to unlock business value from their IT investments. He also works with a number of technology companies helping them with their strategy, market positioning and growth. A former international athlete, he is a Director of Fineos Corporation, a solutions provider to the global financial services industry.
