Karen A. Forcht

Dr. Karen A. Forcht is a Professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems (CIS) and Operations Management (OM) Program, College of Business, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. She received her doctorate from Oklahoma State University and is a Certified Data Educator. Named as the 1990 Computer Educator of the Year by the International Association for Computer Information Systems, Dr. Forcht specializes in computer security, computer ethics, and strategic computer uses. Dr. Forcht has published numerous articles/papers in professional and academic journals, and has presented papers at a wide variety of computer security, MIS, and academic conferences, both in the U.S. and internationally. Her other writing projects include a text entitled, Computer Security Management, two MIS casebooks, several testbanks, instructor resource guides, and student study guides. Dr. Forcht was inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi academic honorary at JMU, was a recipient of the Dominion Fellow Grant from the Commonwealth of Virginia, and was a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the University of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia in 1990. Dr. Forcht served as a consultant to the Office of Personnel Management, Philadelphia Regional Office, U.S. Government, on computer security management and risk analysis. She was named the Andersen Consulting Professor in 1997.
