Michael Goold

Michael Goold MA, MBA, PhD. Michael is a director of the Ashridge Strategic Management Centre. His research interests are concerned with corporate strategy and the management of multi-business companies, and he runs the Centre's programme on Group Level Strategy.

Prior to establishing the Centre in 1987, he was a senior fellow at the London Business School. During this time, he undertook research into the role of the corporate centre in diversified companies that led to the publication of Strategies and Styles (Blackwell, 1987). He also taught business p9olicy on the Master's programme and on executive courses.

Michael has extensive consulting experience with senior management. From 1971 to 1983 he was a member of the Boston Consulting Group and in 1978 was elected a vice president of the firm. He continues to consult with a variety of clients in addition to his research and teaching responsibilities. Michael holds an MA with First Class Honors in PFE and a PhD in Philosophy from Merton College, Oxford, and an MBA with distinction from the Stanford Business School, California.
