Ravi Sethi, President, Avaya Labs.
Previously, Sethi was Communications Sciences Research Vice President, Bell Laboratories. While in that role, he also served as Vice President of Product Innovation for the Communications Software Group, acting as Bell Labs liaison and special advisor to the business unit on software technology developments. Several new products were launched under Sethi's leadership, and Bell Laboratories continues to enjoy a close relationship with the business unit now known as the Software Products Group.
Sethi's first experience at Bell Labs was as a summer intern in 1969, working on compiler code generation. He joined Bell Labs full time in May 1976 and has made technical contributions to compilers, programming languages, and algorithms. For these contributions he received the Bell Labs Distinguished Technical Staff award (1984) and was nominated a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (1996). He co-wrote the influential textbook, Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools, and the author of the textbook, Programming Languages: Concepts and Constructs.
