Robert K. Kazanjian is currently a Professor of Organization and Management at the Goizueta Business School of Emory University. Prior to his appointment at Emory, Rob was a faculty member at the Graduate School of Business, University of Michigan. More recently, he was a Visiting Professor at the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. Rob received his Ph.D. in Organization and Strategy from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Rob has authored a number of articles in such journals as Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, and the Columbia Journal of World Business. He is the co-author, with Jay R. Galbraith, of Strategy Implementation: Structure, Systems and Process (West Publishing). Rob is a member of the Editorial Board of the Strategic Management Journal and the Journal of Business Venturing. He is also an active member of the Strategic Management Society and of the Academy of Management.
His current research work falls into two areas. First, he is initiating several projects pertaining to the implementation of strategy and the management of change in large, diversified firms. Particular interests here center on issues of capability creation and exploitation, innovation processes, and broad-scale organizational transformations. Second, he has a continuing research interest in the organizational issues associated with growth in firms at various stages of development.
Rob has consulted and done executive education work in the areas of strategy, technology, and innovation and strategic change with firms such as General Electric, General Motors, The Home Depot, Singapore Airlines, IBM, Acer, Westinghouse, Abbott Labs, Exxon, Norwest Inc., Lockheed-Martin, Honeywell, and Siemens North America. He has regularly taught in senior executive programs across the US, as well as in Asia.
