Roger Levett

Roger Levett is a specialist in sustainable development policy and management.

Before founding Levett-Therivel he was, for 7 years, a director of CAG Consultants and previously developed green business opportunities for Scottish Enterprise. As a fast stream" civil servant, he worked on energy efficiency, rural environmental policy and as a Minister's private secretary.

Roger is currently advising the Heritage Lottery Fund and Sport England on building sustainable development into their policies and practices, contributing to research led by CAG for DTLR on planning for climate change and helping CPRE develop indicators of tranquillity. He is also writing guidance on Quality of Life Capital as a tool for integrating environmental, social and economic issues for the Countryside Agency and its partners, and applying it as the unifying idea in a multidisciplinary sub-regional capacity study of ashford (led by Halcrows).

His recent major assignments include:

  • Reviewing the UK's progress towards sustainable development for the Sustainable Development Commission
  • A detailed critique of the national indicator set for the UK Round Table on Sustainable Development
  • An assessment of the effectiveness of the UK's environmental planning regimes for the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution.
