Roger T. Ames is a professor of Chinese philosophy and director of the Center for Chinese Studies at the University of Hawaii, where he edits the journals Philosophy East & West and China Review International. He holds a PhD from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. His translation of Sun-tzu: The Art of Warfare is recognized as a landmark of contemporary Chinese military and philosophical studies.
