Tom specializes in human resource strategies, strategic staffing, forecasting, and executive succession and development planning. He has worked with companies (both globally and domestically) to create human resource strategies, develop staffing strategies and quantitative human resource forecasts, develop and implement processes for executive succession and development, and create career models. Most of these assignments included working directly with senior line managers and HR staff.
Prior to starting Bechet Consulting LLC in 2000, Tom was a Partner with The Walker Group (1986-1999). Before joining The Walker Group, Tom spent eight years with Towers, Perrin and its general management consulting division, Cresap. Tom also worked for five years with two consulting engineering firms.
Tom received his MBA from Columbia University in 1979, specializing in management and finance. He received his Bachelors of Engineering (Civil) from Manhattan College in 1974.
Tom has served as Chairman of the Professional Development Committee of the Human Resource Planning Society and as a member of the Society's Board of Directors. Tom is a frequent speaker on human resource planning, forecasting, and executive development. He is the author of Strategic Staffing: A Practical Guide and Tool Kit (2001) and is the editor of the book Human Resource Forecasting and Modeling (one of the volumes of the HRPS Best Practice Series). He also lectures in human resource strategies, strategic staffing, management succession, and development as part of the University of Michigan's Executive Education Programs. Tom is an active member of HRPS and SHRM.
