The dramatic, untold story of what happened inside Apple after the death of Steve Jobs
When Apple's magnetic driving force and co-founder died in 2011, he left the firm in the hands of his two top lieutenants. Jony Ive was the second-most powerful person at Apple and the creative force behind the products adopted by hundreds of millions the world over. Tim Cook was Ive's opposite. His gift was not the creation of new products but maximising margin and forging global alliances.
Calling on interviews from over 200 current and former. employees, this is the fascinating, beat-by-beat story of how two very different men led Apple into a new era, and what happened when the obsessive, perfectionist designer and the man who considered inventory evil came to coalesce. Only one would eventually emerge as Jobs's successor, but at what cost? Apple's valuation grew to over $3 trillion, but did a company built on unrivalled creativity and innovation ultimately end up losing its soul?
Something as unusual as an book about Apple after Steve Jobs death. I.e. with a focus on Tim Cook and Jony Ive (none which comes of as any saints).
Not bad, but not very impressive (with the exception that they got some people to talk about Apple).
You may miss this as it doesn't really contain any insights or lessons. But it was an interesting read, nonetheless.
