The Structure of Organizations Management and Decision Making Behaviour in Organizations

These are the three main topics discussed in this wide-ranging reader on organizational theory. Spanning sixty years from Max WQeber's seminal writings on the nature of, functioning and modernity of bureaucratic organization to the latest management thinking represented by T. J. Peters and R. H. Waterman, Organization Theory has now been substantially revised and updated. New contributors include R. E. Miles and C. C. Snow, A. D. Chandler Jr, R. M. Kanter, D. Slverman, G. Hofstede and J. D. Thompson.

Each of the writers represented in this volume has had a significant impact on modern managemeńt, whether as a theorist or as a leading business executive, and their views continue to be the subject of much current debate. The material presented is therefore relevant to existing organizations, be they small businesses or multinational corporations, and the information provided will be invaluable for those keen to develop their managerial skills.

An interesting subject, but partially destroyed by the selection of authors. Also, this is a book that you may like or dislike dependent on the edition. I rather like the 3rd edition, but can't understand why I should read the fifth…
