Dr. David Clutterbuck is the world's expert on the dynamics of one-to-one development particularly mentoring programs and relationships. He is also one of Europe's most prolific and well-known management writers and thinkers, having written more than 40 books and hundreds of articles. Dr. Clutterbuck's books include the best-selling Winning Streak series, which explore the phenomenon of consistently high-performing companies; The Power of Empowerment, Doing it Different (a recent global study of 'maverick' companies), Everyone Needs A Mentor (the classic text upon which almost all European mentoring is based), The Independent Board Director and Learning Alliances. His current writing projects include books on mentoring for diversity, techniques for coaching and mentoring, and communication capability.

Co-founder of The European Mentoring Centre and of The ITEM Group (a leading provider of internal communication solutions), David also runs a thriving international consultancy, Clutterbuck Associates, which specializes in helping people in organizations develop the skills to help others. David is perhaps best known in recent years for his work on mentoring, on which he consults around the world.

David holds and has held a variety of honorary academic posts at business schools. He is currently pursuing another doctorate, at Birkbeck College, London. His PhD research will encompass the most substantive investigation to date of the dynamics of one-to-one development.

David also leads a virtual research team, that produced a string of insightful and innovative reports on management topics. Among these topics is the concept of the learning team. Funded by Herts TEC under the European Community's ADAPT program, the Learning Teams Research Project threw new light on a remarkable uninvestigated area of management. Since the publication of this research in 1998, David worked with companies to develop practical methods of developing the earning capability of working teams.
