Phil Samuel, Chief Innovation Officer (CIO), BMGI, is a thought leader with more than 20 years of technical and management experience in performance-improvement methodologies including Six Sigma, Lean, Design for Six Sigma, innovation and change leadership.

Industry advisor, speaker and published author, whose most recent credits include the books, Design for Lean Six Sigma: A Holistic Approach to Design and Innovation and the upcoming The Innovator's Toolkit: 50+ Techniques for Predictable and Sustainable Organic Growth. His expertise include:

Dr. Phil Samuel is Chief Innovation Officer for Breakthrough Management Group International. An integral part of BMGI's management team since 2005, Phil brings more than a decade of experience to his role as CIO, helping clients insource creativity and increase organic growth potential. Phil's counsel is invaluable during the strategy deployment phase of any Lean Six Sigma, DFSS or Innovation initiative, and he has become a trusted advisor for executives in a variety of industries. In addition, Phil is a dynamic speaker and published author, whose most recent credits include the books, Design for Lean Six Sigma: A Holistic Approach to Design and Innovation and the upcoming The Innovator's Toolkit: 50+ Techniques for Predictable and Sustainable Organic Growth.

With more than 20 years of technical and management experience related to engineering, manufacturing and service processes, Phil has led countless performance improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Six Sigma, Design for Lean Six Sigma, Innovation and change management. His extensive consulting background includes clients in aerospace, automotives, oil and gas, health care, retail, pharmaceutical and high tech, as well as regulatory agencies such as Environment Canada, the Alberta Research Council, and the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

Phil joined BMGI after five years with the Six Sigma Academy. As the Senior Vice President of Operations, he led the firm's training and consulting practice, and spearheaded the development of client engagements.

Phil holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calgary in Canada, and an MBA from Arizona State University. Before that, he studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India. He is a registered professional engineer and an active member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
